Miss Me, Miss Me...

Well, even though I haven't been very good at posting regularly these past couple weeks, it's only going to get worse. Nicole & I have spent all day today packing our lives away for our 2 week excursion that begins tomorrow. We leave to go to a beautiful place in west Texas known as Ft. Davis. Right outside of town is a century-old campground site made to host an annual rancher's Campmeeting (gathering of people to worship God & fellowship together). I've been going since I was 5 years old and have only missed twice in the last 18 years. It's always been one of my favorite places to go. It's like life is completely different when you're out there. The air is clean, you get up early, have 3 meals a day with family, go to church services a couple times a day, stay in tin cabins, and just enjoy life. No computers, tv's, video games, or even much phone service. A great break from the craziness of real life, I guess you would say.

I obviously missed last year's campmeeting because of our wedding and honeymoon conflict. So, it will be the first time I've seen most of these people in 2 years. I'm very excited. Here is our schedule for the next couple weeks:

Tuesday-Friday--> We are cleaning the cabins for other people so they don't have to when they arrive in a week. The cabins sit vacant for the whole year so there's plenty of dust, dirt, sometimes mouse droppings, and musty-ness to go around. We would probably do it for fun, but we're actually getting paid to do it, so that's even better! :)

Saturday-->We drive from Ft. Davis to Abilene to be hostesses for Elya's lingerie shower. It's going to be a lot of fun. We're working on coming up with some fun and potentially scandalous games for us to play and to cause a couple blushes from the bride-to-be. Good stuff! We will spend the night there before heading back to Ft. Davis on Sunday.

Sunday-Sunday--> Hang out at the campgrounds until everyone else arrives and the camp starts on Tuesday. Lots of food, family, mountain climbing, hanging out, fellowship, and church fun to be had. We always hate for it to come to an end & having to say our goodbyes on Sunday. We'll just have to fill up our days with fun things to do & make it last as long as possible.

Monday-Wednesday--> I'll be home to regroup and recover from campmeeting. No working for me, just some laundry, organization, & bachelorette party planning.

Thursday--> Go to Abilene for Elya' s bachelorette party and great times with the girls.

Friday--> Wedding Rehearsal dinner & wedding prep.

Saturday--> Bridal Brunch & the Whitten WEDDING! I'm so excited for them!

Sunday--> Come home to life like it usually is. (Breathe in, breathe out...)

There you have it. My busy schedule for the next two or three weeks that I am very excited about. I'm very blessed to have so much to do while Chad is away. Although, I would LOVE for him to be present and with me everywhere I'm going & with everything I'm doing, being busy sure helps the time go by. It also works as a fabulous distraction from what's really going on in life. I will post as soon as I get back and have a little time to breathe. I look forward to catching up on all of your writings when I return too! :) Please pray for our safe travel & for lives to be changed by Campmeeting this year! Thanks! :)

(See post below if you haven't already...it's new too!) :)

Happy Anniversary to Me & Hubby...

Believe it or not, a whole year of marriage has already passed by us. And in a hurry, I might add. It's amazing to think that on this same day, a year ago, I was telling the world how much I love my husband & promising him that I would forever be his, and only his. It was the happiest, most special day of my life. We were so lucky to have so many important and loving friends and family present to experience it with us. If I could do it all over again, I definitely would. This has absolutely been the most wonderful time of my life. And I am forever thankful to my God for bringing us together & making our hearts match. We are so blessed. I just wish he was here so I could give him our Happy Anniversary hug(s) and kiss(es).

My mom helped him to get things together for me, so this is what I woke up to this morning. A dozen red roses, a bag full of Hershey's Kisses, & a card with a note in it. Very sweet.

This is what it said on the bag of Kisses.

And inside the card, a note told me the rest of my present. For those of you who may not know, the first anniversary gift is supposed to be 'paper' so he got me a massage and tickets to a concert. YAY!

I'm so excited about New Kids on the Block. I was IN LOVE with them when I was little. My sister, Nicole, & I are planning on going right before Chad gets home in San Antonio in October. We are so excited! I gotta brush up on my NKOTB songs/words so I can freely sing along! Old School NKOTB...so 80's, even though it was the early 90's! :)

The 5 of them today...

I had their bed comforter, beach towels, hair bows, t-shirts, & a concert video. LOL. They're awesome! I'm so excited. Thank you for my presents, lover boy! :)

Will is a gonner...

I am so pissed that Will got voted off of SYTYCD last night. Seriously, America? Couldn't have picked Twitch or Mark? Well, I like both of them too, I just think that Will was best all-around. I've actually kind of already gotten over the fact that he's gone because we all know he'll be the leading role in a Broadway musical soon. He has no worries. And thank goodness it was finally time for Comfort to go...AGAIN. haha. I liked her personality, but she was just a little too gangsta for me I guess. :)

I'm still rooting hard for my girl Chelsie. And now that I'm forced to pick a different guy, I would have to choose Twitch. He was paired with my beginner-favorite, Kherington (who left just a short week ago...sad face) at the beginning of the show and I think he's done awesome since then when it comes to learning the dances and having personality. He's a cute black boy. And he has the least amount of professional training. It's gonna be a tough battle from here on out! I'm excited to see what happens in the coming weeks! :)

razor please...

Well, I know this may gross some of you out, but if you don't like to be grossed out, stop reading now. :)

There are very few perks to being a military wife. But there are a few things that we are allowed to let 'slip by' and have go unnoticed while the hubby's away. One being the hair on my legs. LOL. I know, I know, it's summer and a good girl would be shaving every other day for shorts, capris, and bathing suit reasons. Not me. Not recently anyways. I honestly don't remember the last time I shaved my legs & therefore, I have forced myself to believe that it's been since last week sometime. WOW, you might say. And yes I agree. That's disgusting, Kelly!

Well, all I have to say to that is...sue me :). I can do what I want and I'm not here to impress anyone. I guess for everyone else's sake I shouldn't gross anyone out either, but I'm not feeling quite that considerate these days.

Don't worry, I will find a razor and put it to its duties tomorrow morning. That's a promise. I was 'waiting' for this weekend to roll around so I would have nice, smooth legs while we float the river, haha. That's going to be my lazy excuse anyways!

The rest of this coveted list might include lack of necessary painted toe-nail maintenance, clothes on the floor like the olden days, a messy bed all day long, however long I want to get ready in the bathroom, a full queen-size bed to myself (not as great as it seems now that I think about it), no specific bedtime so you don't wake the other, and my pillow fortress while I sleep that gets in his way. Haha.

As you may guess, I would much rather go back to life with him around where all of these things are expected of me to maintain on a daily basis (or pretty close to). I can't wait for him to come home, even though it's still a little over 2 1/2 months away. Our anniversary is only 3 days away! I can't believe it! Well, I guess thats it. Adios for now! :)

a slew of things...

Bullets...YAY!

*So You Think You Can Dance was fabuloso last night. There wasn't one dance that I didn't like. Go Chelsie & Will....they are my picks to win!
*The weekend is quickly approaching which is exciting because I'm going to float the Guadalupe river on Saturday with my girls. Mom, sissy Laura, sissy KK, & Nicole are all gonna tear it up together...as long as the hurricane rains don't screw us up!
*I've been working a lot this week. Well, a lot being only 4 days for 4 hours at a time. HAHA. Don't judge me ;)!
*My hubby is still staying strong and as happy as he can over there. Optimism is the key to not killing yourself while you're overseas, hah. We're good...don't worry! Although his brand new laptop isn't working for God knows why & I'm slightly frustrated by that.
*I found some cute clothes at Ross yesterday and I'm happy with my purchases. Now I must go check out Target. Yay!
*The Reese's Minis are officially GONE! Thank goodness!
*I need to take my shower for the day. I think that's where I'm headed right now, so I'll be back later.
*A list of my current shows for anyone interested in chatting about any of them:
**Army Wives
**Design Star
**So You Think You Can Dance
**Wipeout
**Shear Genius
**Project Runway
**America's Best Dance Crew
**Nashville Star (cheesy, but there's a dude from San Angelo on there in the top 4!)
I think that's pretty much it. I've enjoyed all of them so far. It's sometimes tough to find summer shows you like, but they've done a good job. Check em out!

I done fell off...

I can't keep my hands off of the Reese's miniatures in the freezer. Ohhh, when that cold milk chocolate hits your lips and it starts to melt away on your tongue; leaving that yummy and sugary peanut buttery surprise inside.....it makes me weak. haha.

I've consumed entirely too many for one person in the past couple days. I am ashamed. And still not feeling the urge to get my chubby butt up to do anything that will remotely help burn the extra cals.

And it's not even that time of the month yet. GRRR to you crazy and delectable chocolate candy makers. You are my kryptonite.

a week at a time...

Sorry everyone. It seems as though another week has swept on by since my last post. I know that is a completely ridiculous quantity of time to let pass without words, but I'll try to make up for it. I really don't even have much going on to show for my absence in writing, but I'll catch you up on what's happened in the past 7 days.

Last week:
Wednesday--> I spent the day with the women of the family. Bought my bestie a beautiful vase for her bridal shower, and shopped around with the ladies. Sad to say I didn't make even one purchase besides the vase. Saving money though, so not too many worries.
Thursday--> I actually worked at Shipping Point. The hours flew by pretty quickly and it was rather harmless. Money in the pocket is what that is!
Friday--> Worked again, surprise-surprise! Then we had spaghetti with the fam and game night later on. We played a combo of Catch Phrase-Music Edition & Napoleon Dynamite til it was about 12:30 am and time to hit the hay. If you've never played ND, but you've seen the movie, it's great fun. You choose two cards which have random animals on them and you have to draw them together as one, similar to what Napoleon did with the Liger (a lion & tiger mixed animal...known for it's skills and magic) haha. Your team has to figure out what combo of animals you are so frivolously attempting to draw in your 60 seconds of artistry fame. Fun, fun.
Saturday--> Elya's wedding shower was that morning and it was a lot of fun. I did my bridesmaid-y duties and wrote down all of the gifts and guests that gave them. She got a lot of goodies. It almost made me want another shower for myself (and my house :)).........well, not quite. But gifts are always fun to receive! :) My family then ate dinner at Henry's. MMMM, fattening Mexican.
Sunday--> We had family lunchtime which included a fabulous southern-style meal. It was as if Paula Dean herself were here to prepare it in all of it's buttery and fattening glory. Fried pork chops, fresh green beans, corn on the cob, homemade mashed taters, & a watermelon/cantaloupe combo salad. Then for dessert we ate a Czech-inspired pastry called Kolaches. It's pretty much bread with sweet poppy seeds in the middle. Yummy, yummy carb treats!
Monday--> I considered working but quickly decided that was a no-go when I heard mom, aunt Becky, G-ma, & Taylor were going to spend the day at the pool. Therefore, I got some sun for myself and loved every second of it. Then we ate at Cheddar's (MMM) and played some dominoes like old people. The game of 42...it's a fun one! :)

Well, that about wraps up my last week. A lot of time has been spent with my grandma and aunt Becky who is here all the way from Alaska. It's been awesome having her here and I'll be sad to see her go on Wednesday. I guess I'll just have to work harder on getting myself and Chad up to Alaska to visit them instead. I can't wait! :) Hope no one had a bad case of the Mondays today. Be back soon.

So Lazy...

Sorry I have slacked in my blogging ways lately, but it just seems as though there isn't much interesting activity going on around these parts. Well, I guess I will share in what has kind of been going on these past couple days.

I've been working on getting Chad's anniversary gifts together so I can get them shipped and have them arrive on or before our actual day (which is July 28th for those who don't know). I decided that since the 'anniversary rules' say you are supposed to give each other paper for the 1st anniversary, that USC Gamecock (his alma-mater) football tickets would be my gift to him. Fabulous, huh?! Well, he's super-excited about it, but they aren't available yet so I wanted to give him something else too, that was a little more tangible. So, I got him to think about what he wants/needs and he informed me he wanted a really good electric razor. So, I went out and got him one today. That was easy :). Poor guy has to shave his face every day for the darn military and regular razors have started to be too rough on his sensitive baby face. I appreciate the absence of rough whiskers don't get me wrong, but I would be driven nuts if someone made me shave my legs every day of the week. UUGGGGHHH. So annoying (and bad for your follicles, haha).

Anyways, I also made him a really special PowerPoint presentation to the tune of "Feels like home to me" that has made all of the women in my family cry, haha. If I knew how to upload it to this & share it with everyone, I would. Any suggestions you blogging geek squad out there (Cassandra ;))? haha.

Well, I guess that's it for now. I'll get back to you when I can!

I Need To...

*Clean my room. A dang bomb went off in there or something. All I know is it's a disaster.
*Organize my ridiculous amount of hair & hygiene products that are prominently displayed on my bathroom counter. Not the intended place for them.
*Wrap some wedding gifts for my bestie's shower coming up next weekend.
*Purchase my anniversary gift to the hubby & get it sent come Monday or Tuesday, at the latest. Stupid slow-moving post office mail. You just won't let me procrastinate any longer! Grrr.
*Finish a very special wedding gift that takes time and focus. I really need to get it done sooooon!
*Prep the house for friends and family to come over tomorrow night for hamburgers and happiness. My sister's 29th birthday party extravaganza. Better her than me is all I have to say about that ;).
*Hang & put away my laundry while unpacking what's left in my bags at the same time.
*Drink some hot tea cuz it's just been way too long & I don't like that.
*Make the bestest dessert called 'Sex in a Pan'...MMM MMM good. How could it not be with a name like that, right?! :)
*Wrap sissy's birthday present. Don't tell her, but I got her one of those super-cute giraffe skin purses that are popular right now. She's gonna love it! :)
*Get some sleep before I have to wake up at 7:45am to join in on picking up my aunt from the airport. Yay for aunt Becky being here! :)

Well, there's my list for now. Wish me luck and diligence to get it done! Good night for now.

Back at the Point...

Shipping Point that is. I worked for a couple of hours there yesterday and I'm about to be on my way to do so again this afternoon. It wasn't bad at all. But after all, it was only 4 hours of working. haha. I'm 'filling in' for Krystal while she is showing her yankee in-laws around San Antonio. Anyways, I just thought I'd tell everyone why I've sucked at posting lately.

Nicole & I have worked out every day this week, so far. Two days of hard-core full body workouts with running, weight training, and resistance bands, and two days of playful tennis. It's been pretty fun and I'm really proud of us for sticking to it. We just need to make sure to keep it going! I still have about 15 to lose. GRRRR. haha.

My aunt Becky from Alaska is flying into San Angelo tomorrow morning around 8:30. She is awesome and I'm very glad I'm here to get to see her during her 2 week visit. So far, I don't really have any weekend plans, except a grill-out tomorrow night for my sister's birthday party/welcome extravaganza for Becky. It should be a lot of fun. I'm going to attempt making my first batch of Teriyaki burgers ever. They should be good. If you know of any more fun and tasty burger ideas, hook me up before tomorrow please! :)

Well, off to work I go, again. Wish me luck.

Home Again, Home Again...

Well, the weekend was everything that I hoped it would be. We spent a full four days having a blast with Nicole's family and the lake. Between pontoon boats, wakeboarding, sea-dooing, rope swinging, fireworks, Catch Phrase, swimming, pool and tubing, it was a weekend full of happiness. I will admit I don't feel as young as I used to. My body, from head to toe is IN PAIN, lol. I guess if soreness is a measuring factor of how much fun I had, I had a frickin' blast. :)

The weather was perfect, got a few sprinkles everyday, but the sun was shiny and the water was the perfect refreshing temperature. I actually got a little tan! Hallelujah, haha. I was beginning to think my skin was incapable of expressing color anymore. Anyways, I'm back, considering going back to work at Shipping Point again *sigh*, and in dire need of a good full body massage.

Hope everyone had fun this weekend and is ready to get back to life after a long holiday weekend. Here's a couple of pics:
Me & my besties Nicole & Elya...

Tubing with Elya & Taylor...

Proof that I really did get up and wakeboard at 7:00 am. haha. (I'm STILL sore...:( )

La-Di-Dod-E, We Like's To Party...

Ooooohhh, WHEEE! This weekend is going to be chock-full of some fun! The lake is calling my name oh so loudly and I am so excited to get there! It seemed like Thursday would never come, but I think we're almost there! Nicole & I are leaving around noon tomorrow and pointing our noses toward a little town on Lake LBJ, known as Kingsland. Four full days of on-the-water happiness with her whole family! The 4th of July is just a fabulous holiday.

And while I'm here, I'd like to make a shout out to all my homies overseas, helping to fight, not only for our freedom, but for the Iraqi and Afghani people too. They are special & talented people who deserve to be praised for their loyalty and service to our wonderful country. So, THANK YOU and may God continue to watch over and keep each one of you until you return home, hopefully sooner than later.

Everyone stay safe and enjoy your weekend of family time, cooking out, and fireworks. While you're at it, say a prayer for those on hazardous grounds who aren't able to be with their families on our nation's independence day. God bless!

P.S. Happy Early 4th of July Birthday, Cassandra Lynne Sagan Webb! :) Hope it's a fabulous one! Wish I was there to celebrate with you!

Holy Crap, it's July!

Yay for July's arrival! We can now officially mark June off of the deployment calendar. That is one month we are very happy to be done with! Now just 3 1/2 to go, haha. We're on the countdown though, so keep your heads up ;)!

I'm a little bit annoyed at the swimsuit producing industry this year...well, and I guess every year prior to now too. But this is why. It never fails that there are a bazillion cute bikini choices out there every summer, but it does always seem that for my body type, I get the short end of the stick. I mean, come on people...not every girl is a 'small, size 0-4' in this world. There are some of us that are even sexier than that and pack a little more junk in the trunk and boobs on the rack, if ya know what I mean. It's a beautiful thing to be womanly and curvacious, so why does it seem so difficult to find a swimsuit to actually cover all of the bases. Hold in the buttocks, tame down & volumptu-ize the 'ladies', and make us feel covered and yet sexy at the same time. Now, correct me if I'm being too picky or critical, but all I want is a bathing suit fit for me, cute designs and everything. I have yet to find such a suit this summer. GRRRR.

That's my soap box for now. Maybe some of you can relate.

P.S. My best friend Nicole comes in town tomorrow and it will be the first time I've seen her since February so I'm very excited! Yay for playtime! :)
