Real vs. Fake...

My wonderful husband and I have many conversations about things that may or may not happen for us in the future. And since we still haven't spent a Christmas together since we've been together, we haven't been able to do all of the fun Christmas decorating and fun holiday things that new married couples do. The good thing is that we have both been brought up the same when it comes to having a huge Christmas celebration with the whole family involved, stockings stuffed on the mantle, and present-opening early on Christmas morning. But what we do not agree on is the livelihood of our Christmas tree.

Now it seems as though he is being pretty adamant about getting a real tree "because it's just not Christmas without a real tree in the living room where you can turn the lights on and enjoy them for the weeks before the big day". Yes, I agree, but nothing in the "Preparation for a Successful Christmas Celebration" books does it say that it is 100% necessary to have to put up with pine needles all over the floor and the nuisance of watering an already dying tree. Did I mention that I'm allergic to all but one kind of Christmas tree? Well, I mentioned it to Chad, but that didn't seem to do much for my defense...shucks!

I on the other hand would rather get a fake, but fluffy, Christmas tree that will actually FIT in our slightly cramped condo. I just feel as though I'm thinking more logically, because I guarantee you that if he does win in the end, HE will be vacuuming everyday and watering the tree on his own :). Oh yea, and did I mention we are also bickering (with a playful nature of course) about the color of the lights on the tree? Both of us have always had multicolored lights on our Christmas trees growing up and he feels as though the tradition should continue. I, on the other hand, feel as though it is now our time to start our own family traditions for ourselves. I would like white lights with a collection of silver/white/blue ornaments with a snowflake theme. It'd look great in our house and pretty, because I will have done it :)! haha.

Looks as though we might end up having two different trees. Nothing like compromising in a marriage, huh?! haha. I love him. We are the perfect mesh of the ying and the yang...it just gets messy sometimes, haha!

Thanks so much for the encouraging words! I really appreciated it~I definitely needed to hear that. I know..sometimes I don't deal with "random" so well, but after hearing yours and Cassandra's stories, it sounds pretty fun!:0)

LoL. First of all, what would Dave Ramsey say? Wouldn't it be wiser to invest ONCE in a tree that will last you ages? Real trees are such a pain in the butt!

Also, white lights are definitely the way to go. Very elegant and classy. Colored lights can come into the picture when you have kids. Very fun and festive.
